I have spent a lot of time drawing portrait-style boards of animals, and recently I have been expanding into more scenic or unique compositions. My tree-hugger nature is returning, and in addition to helping local wildlife hospitals and international wildlife conservation efforts, I am starting to create art that creates awareness of poaching, global climate change, and other human-related causes of species extinction.
Polly Jackson has been a professional artist for more than 42 years and an art teacher for 20 years. She uses an Old Masters technique of layered painting with Impressionist colors that is excellent for both beginner and intermediate painters. She also teaches Painting with Acrylics, Drawing for the Absolute Beginner, Drawing with Flair, Pastels, and En Plein Air Painting.
Lois Duffy's Studio is located in the Historic Downtown Art District of Silver City, New Mexico. On view are unusual acrylic paintings, giclee prints and hand-signed cards, with varied subject matter from surrealism to realism.
A journey through Lois' paintings will make a viewer see the world as full of magical possibilities . . . friendly, humorous, serious and thought-provoking.
There are components of my life in each piece I create and the longer I create art the more abstract my work becomes. While I do tend to include realistic elements in some of my pieces, I add degrees of abstraction to create a type of hybrid work. I am inspired by nature but don’t try to duplicate her. I enjoy working with water media yet continue to investigate different mediums, surfaces and techniques. Everything I create is in response to a certain emotion and my hope, in creating each piece, is to evoke a mutual response or connection from the viewer.
