On Oct 14, at 7:00, at Quechua Restaurant two of the dearest men I know, Enrico Trujillo and Ed Cardenas, will present their work. Both of them have and continue to contribute to this community, and I am honored to introduce them.
Ed Cardenas, a native of Taos, has family roots in Rio Lucio. Ed will talk about his books and the importance of keeping our languages. He has a master’s degree in social work from Denver U., where he received the Dorthea Spellman Award for his creativity in working with groups. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Metro State College in Denver. Ed is trained as a facilitator trainer at the Grief Education Institute, a substance abuse counselor trainer and as rehabilitation specialist trainer for staff working with the disabled substance abuser. Ed is retired from the Veterans Administration, the University of New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands University and Albuquerque Public Schools. Currently, Ed trains substance abuse and grief counselors and other human service workers (i.e. teachers). He also trains parents on parental skills.
Enrico Trujillo was born in Taos and has spent his life in New Mexico. He has been influenced by Orozco, Siqueros, the interactive and multimedia work of Golan Levin, along with Doc Woohoo and Jared Tarbell. These days he looks to inspiration from the people, landscapes and communities of Taos.
His talent was recognized early when he presented a one man show of work while graduating from High School. From there to the University of New Mexico with Martin Facey and Nick Abdalla, and upon graduating from UNM with a BFA he in the development of online educational and interactive programs for the Navajo Education Technology Consortium. He also helped launch ARTS LAB, a multidisciplinary arts & sciences program that worked with motion capture, projection, 3D animation, augmented reality and cinematic special effects.
Enrico’s work is informed by an interest in communication and education through visual and interactive media.
