Color, light, texture, and form: four elements in nature that have captivated me for years! Whether I am looking at the grandeur of the landscape, a gemstone, or ink as it is spread across a printing plate, I continually look for ways to incorporate my fascination with these phenomena in my artistic creations. Although I will pursue a single theme in a variety of mediums and styles, these threads are present, regardless of the materials I choose.

Bio: Jorge Luis Bernal was born in Havana, raised in Jersey City and attended art school in South Florida. He received his MFA in architecture from Virginia Tech and a BFA from Florida International University in ceramics and art history. He spent most of his earlier career practicing architecture, teaching college, high school and exhibiting nationally. Jorge works in clay, cold wax and encaustic monotypes, which have received numerous awards.
Artist Statement: My work is about stories and journeys: those that I take and the journey that the artwork has been in my studio. The mark-making, colors, textures and structures of each story dictate the development of my artwork that, while predominately abstract, is based on reality. The shapes and lines are born from places and objects, broken down and transformed into something new. I use this interplay between marks and materials to create tensions through emotions to explore, select and then piece together a final image.
I invite you to pause awhile and consider taking your own journey through the narratives I create.

Fred weaves on a Rio Grande walking loom, not unlike the first looms brought to the New World by the Spanish in the early seventeenth century.
His weavings are 100% Navajo Churro wool - warp and weft - which was the wool used by those early settlers. Churro sheep were, at one time, considered an endangered animal, and the wool is still considered quite dear. Its long staple and unique fiber composition make it unparalleled for use in rugs and blankets. |
Commissions are welcome.
Due to the nature of hand-dying and custom weaving, all pieces are unique. |

Tom believes an artist should create aesthetic experiences and outcomes which utilize a broad range of tools, materials, and techniques that communicate men and women’s unique conditions, and the majesty of Nature to the viewer. His art is a visual, concrete, and elemental language. He does not try to contain or narrow its translation, choosing rather to broaden its meaning and impact to the greatest possible audience. Tom engages the viewer’s mind to think about their closely held values and beliefs … to challenge their aesthetic understanding and question their meaning. His art is not restricted to any one medium, and typically represents a deep probing, and often metaphorical investigation.
Carole’s work in sterling silver, semi-precious, and natural stones link her interest to the land of this area. Her two-dimensional pieces in other media express a keen fondness of the Southwest. Her images are abstracted to basic forms that emerge in unique one-of-a-kind jewelry representations. They embrace the beauty in form and design that echoes direct observation of the natural wonders found in earthforms of Northern New Mexico, and other pristine places where she has lived and traveled. With a background in painting, design and the natural sciences her approach to art is to portray, in a variety of media, the essence, nuance, and structure of nature in the least complex way.

I am an 87 year old artist aka, Old Man with a Paintbrush. I have been painting steadily since 2018. I painted a little in my 40’s and learned some from former Tucson artist, Ted deGrazia. I grew up on the Navajo reservation and have lived in Peña Blanca over 20 years. I’m a southwestern story teller.
I paint to see what happens– within myself and on the canvas; trusting my experience and being endlessly surprised. Everything is a creative process, an investigation, and in some sense, a healing art. What inspires me is the creative process itself, following my intuition and abandoning expectations. I like to experiment with various styles and mediums but my passion is in abstract expression.
I hold BFA in painting and have exhibited my work primarily in Washington, Oregon, California and New Mexico. Currently I am living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I am also a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, happily practicing Acupuncture to help others be in harmony with themselves and their environment. I hope that my passion for creativity and exploration can be felt in my artwork.

"Glass has always been an attractive medium to me. When I left teaching in 2017, I finally had the hours to dedicate to this time-intensive craft. After apprenticing with Scottish Stained Glass, I was hired on as a builder and restorer. Now, I create, restore, repair, and host classes in my studio on Cerrillos Rd to share my love of this age-old art with others.
As an emerging artist, I find myself on a tightrope between decorative and fine art. Sometimes I fall one way, sometimes the other. My favorite pieces are the ones with hidden messages or meaning beyond the obvious symbolism or shapes included in the piece, and the ones that find the right combination of colors, textures, and opacities. Finding this combination can be somewhat challenging, even with the wide variety of art glass available, but it feels so good to find it.
I love chatting with fellow artists and building community in Santa Fe. Stop by and say hi sometime!"

Andrea Cermanski’s work is a conversation in color inspired by the intricacies of our natural world. Extracting her palette from nature, her work embodies the delicate interplay of light and color, texture and form. While working, she intuitively synthesizes memories of the land, sky and water, allowing something new to emerge–a metamorphosis. The culmination results in capturing the essence of a place vaguely familiar to us all. Similar to the excitement of recognizing familiar images while watching clouds, her work seeks to grasp the contemplative eye of the viewer.
YENNY COCQ’s Creative Inspiration
My artistic expression and challenge is to refine the human figure to basic and almost geometric forms. I love to use simple body postures and language to portray an emotional idea or story. My romantic couples express all the romantic or loving longings with their unique body language. Together they display an emergent emotional expression. With simple lines and planes I work to capture the essence of these gestures. The couples and families are separate individuals but bound in non-verbal communication. It is my hope that viewers feel their own experiences, perceptions and passions reflected in my sculptures.

Lisbeth’s fine art paintings are distinguished by saturated colors, a lively mix of patterns, and rich details. She’s particularly inspired by the cactus, flowers, and Southwest landscape all around her pretty Santa Fe studio on a hill just a few minutes from the historic Plaza.
Lisbeth works in watercolor, acrylics, wax pastels and ink to present her subjects in joyful and lively ways. Her award-winning work is internationally collected and Lisbeth’s paintings have been featured in juried exhibitions, solo shows, and galleries in New Mexico and Washington State. Lisbeth’s paintings and illustrations are also the basis for a number of popular artisan goods - including cards, enamel pins, and art prints - carried in museum shops and retail shops around New Mexico.

Flow
Merging creativity and movement through painting.
Merging creativity and movement through painting.
Painting is like a dance for me. I feel that I am a partner with the paint and the canvas.
It is a physical act of rhythm, texture, surface and subsurface, always moving,
always in flux. I enjoy the process of discovering negative and positive shapes by
using painters tape to mask off areas, or by scratching deeper into the paint to
reveal hidden surfaces, much like looking through ice on a frozen lake.

When I paint I tend to reduce details and to use a controlled number of colors. As the work progresses, so also is the relationship between what is emerging on the canvas and myself. Most frequently, I start by applying thin layers of acrylic since this medium dries quickly while I give body and shape to the painting. Then, I work applying thin layers of oil, oil being my preferred medium.
Always of great concern to me are the light and the “soul” of the painting. The texture, the agreement of lines and the way the colors work with each other are equally important, and I continue working until the painting gets its “soul”.
María is represented by the Ernesto Mayans Gallery on Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM.
