Huston’s paintings are a quiet study of our inner and outer selves.
There is always a space that contains a story; there is always a path that leads us on into our own story.
The solitude and peace that we all seek is in the magic of Ann’s work.

Leaving New York and commercial photography in 1986
David Michael Kennedy moved to New Mexico and began to focus on his fine art photography.
David Michael Kennedy moved to New Mexico and began to focus on his fine art photography.
David's impressive and vast body of work includes iconic portraits of musicians, actors and artists. Visitors often find themselves stumbling onto recognizable pictures of Bob Dylan, Debbie Harry or Willie Nelson –pictures that they have known well and for years-but now have the opportunity to meet the artist and hear the stories behind the famous images.
Kennedy’s images are materialized through the traditional analogue technique of Platinum/Palladium printing, of which he is widely considered to be one of the best in the world. He teaches private landscape, portrait and platinum/palladium darkroom. Students come from all over the globe to study with this master photographer and printer. His state of the art darkroom is open to visitors to tour and see first hand how and where his work is made.
“Photography is the process, the participation, that directs my sense of curiosity and provides the passion that fuels me. With my art, as with my life, emphasis is placed on the pure and simple, the directness of living.”

Tom Quinn Kumpf is an internationally recognized, award-winning photographer, writer, poet, and storyteller. He is the author of eleven books, including Children of Belfast, Ireland: Standing Stones to Stormont, Two Sides: Haiku and Other Words, Skulls, and most recently, Northern New Mexico Portraits. His work has taken him to thirty-two countries and has appeared in galleries, museums, magazines, and newspapers throughout the world. He works primarily in documentary, travel, portrait, and fine-art photography, both in digital and film media. He is currently working on a book series made up of portraits taken over the course of his fifty-year career and continues to expand his Skulls project. He maintains a studio in La Posta Plaza, Taos, and is available to collectors and interested individuals by appointment.

Though I have worked in many mediums, I have chosen to work primarily on paper; painting and drawing. My choice of medium is gouache. I am a hard edge painter. I have been seriously working with grids since the early nineties. When I lived in Houston I worked with grids made up of squares. Upon moving to Taos, New Mexico, it was the addition of the random diagonal line, which creates compositions of squares, triangles, and some unexpected shapes. It is the diagonal line which allows me to think of the landscape of New Mexico; rivers, mountains, and sky. It is not that I expect the viewer to see what I see, but it is to explain where my inspiration comes from.
I am an artist who is in the studio everyday, I love to paint and to draw, and I have been doing it for almost five decades. I have learned that "to be an artist," is a life-time study. For me, two of the reasons I keep "at it" are; the goal is illusive, and it is always just out of reach. |
