Earlayne is an oil painter whose work has found an eager audience. She has been painting for over forty years, and it shows!! Earlayne has moved to the cool pines of Ruidoso, New Mexico where she is finding new inspiration for her paintings. For many years, Texas provided the locales and inspiration for paintings of the Texas Hill Country. In 1991, Earlayne began studies with leading American artists, Ray Vinella, Kevin MacPherson and Clyde Aspevig. They helped her to open new avenues of artistic growth. Her first loves were wildlife and garden genres and now Earlayne’s canvases encompass vibrant color landscapes from across the Southwest and the Rocky Mountains.
"Dignity...It's an attribute I find most appealing in my Native American subjects, and it's what I strive to convey in my sculptures. Having grown up in an area rich in Native American history, I have been intrigued by Native American culture since childhood and marvel in their spirituality and wisdom. I earned my BA degree in Advertising Design from Iowa State University. Although mostly self-taught, I have attended a few classes and sculpture workshops. I am a member of the National Sculpture Society, and my work has appeared in juried shows from Wyoming to Illinois.
My work is available at San Francisco Street Art Gallery in Santa Fe, or through my website." www.rorycombs.com/Contact.html |
"I am truly the luckiest person I know. I get to play in the mud and create this wonderful life in clay. In pursuit of excellence. Since 1971 clay is it! My life, my love, my passion. These pots are my children. They are alive, they sing, they dance well together. They are gentle to the hand. They are fired to be durable with great strength. They are light like me, ergonomically correct, user friendly. Pots the colors of New Mexico, colors of life in this land of enchantment, where the light is magic! Blue skies, teal of dawn and dusk, yellow of winter grass, green of juniper trees, white of snow, celadon of spring, copper of rain dancing and black, my best. And always the variables of the wind, the kiln gods, of life itself"......Ivy
