Nick was first attracted to print making while hanging out at the Zeller 9 Gallery on the Fulham Road in Chelsea. After sessions at Winchester Art College studying etching, he was truly hooked. In the US at the Pacific Arts League of Palo Alto, Nick studied with Adele Seltzer (who had worked with Nathaniel Oliviera), and switched allegiance from etching to monotype printmaking. In Taos, Nick met Michael Vigil, an inspiring and generous artist and printmaker, and Nick continues to print at Michael's studio, Graphic Impressions.
Recently, Nick has returned to etching and serigraphs, with thought-provoking work ranging from contemporary takes on Japanese samurai themes, to homages to icons of art and music.

Kari Bell Art, Artist Statement
I paint what I feel about what I see. This is the essence of the abstract art I create with oil and cold wax medium. Creating abstract works with lots of texture (either visual or tactile) is possible because the multiple layers of the art in progress can be stamped, gouged, pressed, stained, scraped and generally ‘molded’ to the desired forms and textures.
Helen Frankenthaler said that rules in art are meant to be broken. For me, pushing the boundaries encourages innovation, imagination and a different level of creativity. I revel in an unexpected combination of line, texture and/or color, the juxtaposition unimagined, the unforeseen result.
My work is part reality, part dream, part memory-I hope it evokes some of that for you.

“Crowell's works are abstracted from nature: they are personal responses to the visual forms, colors and atmospheres that have surrounded her in a variety of locations.” — John Seed, The Huffington Post

“I am nuts about trees, I even speak to them... and to the branches I cut along the arroyos to create my lamps.
I ask: speak to me, tell me one of your stories, some dream, some fantasy. Shutting the buzz in my mind, I listen with my eyes, until my hands follow & shape with colorful papers, the story they whisper.
Each new lamp is a duo between the peculiar nature of the branches and my own imagination.”

Lana Dura uses only natural colors of Navajo-Churro wool, ranging from black and white through unusual browns, grays (plus hot water and friction), to make their wool felt. Everything we produce is unique in color and patterning - very textural (touch them!) distinctive and joyous. Everything is hand-washable, hand-made in Taos and all the flat felts are reversible. (Pictured: Reversible flat felts for floors, Art felts for walls, Hand-sewn pillows, Pot Holders & Tortillas, Coasters, and Snuggly Pet Beds.)
This historic and now rare breed arrived in this hemisphere with the Spanish Conquistadores in the 1500s.
I am fortunate enough to have found their wonderful fiber and this thoroughly sustainable material enables me to Give Sheep a Job.
