Ming Franz, Splash Ink Painter VISIT ARTIST'S WEBSITE To View Ming's France Workshop September 2019 WESTERN INTERPRETATIONS OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE PAINTING TECHNIQUES What is Splash Color? The foundation of this method of painting can be found in principles originating in the Tan Dynasty of China with a technique known as Po Mo. Po Mo is a traditional approach to Chinese painting, but Splash Ink with Watercolor pushes it into a whole new realm. Splash Ink painting is called splash ink because the artist splashes, throws, or pours black ink and the three primary watercolors or liquid acrylic onto the layers of rice paper or watercolor paper in order to create intended and unintended effects in abstract forms and colors.
